Europe Code Week 2020 #CodeWeek is a grassroots initiative supported by the European Commission which aims to bring programming and digital literacy to everyone in a fun and attractive way.

It took place from 10 to 25 October and the EB1/PE Marinheira school participated through activities that promoted the initiation of students from Pre-School and primary to Computer Science through the realization of online exercises of visual programming and the exploration in the classroom of the robots Blue-Bot, Lego WeDo 2.0 and Makey Makey.

Initiatives like this contribute to students’ digital literacy, in addition to allowing fun and collaborative learning.

During these two weeks, all students had the opportunity to carry out activities aimed at their age group, with or without a computer or internet. In addition to visual programming exercises on various websites, students were able to assemble and explore the various robotic kits available. For students, it was another opportunity to develop their reasoning, logic, problem solving and abstract thinking skills in building programs to control robots.

These activities fulfill a large number of the objectives of our project, namely to promote 4C’s skills, create fun and engaging learning activities or improve ICT skills using different tools.
